Female athletes are finding it hard to achieve the fame and money that men get. This is even if the women perform equally well or outshine men. In the sporting world, women are still underpaid when compared to men. Women athletes do not get access to sponsorships like their male counterparts. The trend is that when men sports stars perform well, many pages or forums are devoted to their performance. However, very few articles are written about women sports stars.
           

The Equity in Athletics Act 1997 states that all colleges and universities in the US should report data on men and women athletes. This helps to make the policing easier. Supporters of this act believe all opportunities that men have also should be provided to women in a college atmosphere. Competition helps girls and women to develop a sense of self-esteem and confidence. It also increases the rapport between men and women not just in the sporting field but also in the fields of business and society.

The bottom line is that female athletes should be treated on par with the male counterparts. When they are on top, they also ought to receive the same amount of respect, fame, recognition and money like the male athletes.
