If you are talking on the phone while driving, eating or reading, you are likely to drive recklessly, fail to adhere to road rules and overtake carelessly causing accidents. You are also more likely to drive recklessly while under the influence of narcotics and even over the counter medications. Drugs such as cocaine and heroin can cause you to drive fast. On the other hand, medication taken to ease colds and fever may cause drowsiness. Minors, children below the age of sixteen are considered to be reckless drivers. This is because they lack driving experience. What is more, they are more prone to distractions. They will want to talk and see what their peers are doing while driving, are unlikely to adhere to traffic rules and may not yield to other motorists on the road. In all reckless driving situations, there is usually one motorist who disobeys traffic rules creating unsafe and dangerous driving conditions not only for himself but for others on the road. The best way that reckless driving can be prevented is for all motorists to obey the traffic rules. Regardless of how much you are in a hurry you should never over speed or overtake carelessly. You should always wear your seat belt and ensure nothing is distracting you as you drive.
